Tune : n/a

What is everyone doing tonight/tomorrow? I'll be celebrating the holidays with my family, which is lovely as I was all the way on the other side of the world last year. We won't do anything spectacular, just cook/bake a lot (already made cookies and chocolate pudding today), watch Christmas movies and generally spend more time together which is always a good thing. And of course there is a new Doctor Who episode on TV as well as Hamlet (which, according to a Dutch TV-guide, stars some bloke called Danny Tennant... lol), for which I am super excited :D

Anyway, regardless of whether you celebrate Christmas or not I hope each and every one of you has a few wonderful days *squishes* ♥

The holidays are here again! If you'd like a Christmas/Hanukkah/Kwanzaa/Yule/Solstice/Otherstide gift from my character, please post the name of your character here and it'll be delivered just in time for the holidays!

Don't forget to post this to your own journal to share the holiday cheer!

Tune : Doctor Who OST - "This is Gallifrey: Our Childhood, Our Home"

In honour of the start of the Tenth Doctor's final two-parter next week - The End of Time - I wanted to make a picspam of his most memorable scenes/episodes. It took a lot longer to make than I expected (though obviously it was no punishment having to rewatch all these episodes again to get the quotes to match the pictures), but I am fairly certain I managed to include all the moments that impressed me the most while watching them the first time around. The ones that made me laugh the hardest, cry the most and broke my heart. Ten is my Doctor and I will really miss him :(

Molto Bene! Allons-y! )

Tune : Josh Groban - "What Child is This?"

I still haven't finished my travel recaps from this Summer (I think I have about 5 to go all-together from the US and Tokyo) nor do I think I have ever posted pics/info from my holiday to Texel or trip to Utrecht in October, but I hope I'll get to those eventually. For now some pictures from Haarlem, where I went to last weekend with my mother and sister. It's a big city located not too far from Amsterdam but for some reason we have never been there before (even though I used to live in Rotterdam, which is also in the West of the Netherlands). It took us three hours and four train switches to get there, but it was worth it. We'll certainly go again as soon as our busy schedules allow us to as it really blew us away with its awesomeness.

Not only is Haarlem an absolutely gorgeous city like so many in the Netherlands (mostly architectural wise, see pictures), it was also a fantastic shopping place with lots of interesting and different cute little stores. From the smallest store in Haarlem, barely big enough to turn around in but until the ceiling filled with gifts, to shops selling special cheeses. And from antique stores to ones selling many food specialties from other cultures.

Plus we were super lucky that besides the Christmas decorations we happened to go the one day they had the Anton Pieck parade in the city! Anton Pieck was a Dutch artist who lived in the last century and drew lovely sceneries like THIS. The people portrayed on his work look very "Dickens" and so as you can imagine a lot of people were dressed up like that in Haarlem this past weekend, which really gave it all an even more Chrismassy feel.

I didn't buy too much in the end, or at least not what I had planned. I really wanted to get some Christmas gifts but I couldn't find anything I was happy with. I did buy some Christmas decorations for myself (including a few awesome tree decorations painted in the famous Delft blue design) as this year reindeer seem to be really popular (even more so than usual) and I love them so I wanted to take advantage of the overflow of choices I had. We finished the day with dinner at a delicious Indian restaurant (my mum had okra, I had lamb curry and my sis chicken curry and we also had mango lassi and cheese naan) and nom nom nom! It was an awesome day :D

Tune : Sebastian Pigott - "Alien"

Pfew, I (finally) finished watching my shows, hope I didn't miss anything. At least the holiday hiatus is going on so I only have like four shows this week (well, that and the Tennant/DW stuff on BBC). Before my reviews, here's some links:

• A scene from Alvin and the Chipmunks 2: Toby and the boys play Wii bowling <3
• Eight page (!) long interview with David Tennant from the latest Doctor Who Magazine as well as his interview from Radio Times.
• From that same DWM issue a fantastic interview with John Simm ("I am David's Master" <3).
• Awesome new clip from The End of Time, featuring my two favourite characters. (it's spoilery, yes, but er... I am too impatient to wait for Christmas day. I am watching every promo I can get my hands on!).
